    Proposal summary:

With the increase in demand for organic seed, the production of mustard green seed may be a promising venture for the small farmer in the Northeast. This project will experiment with the feasibility of direct seeding arugula plants for seed production. Three methods of direct seeding will be tested and compared to the standard procedure of transplanting thousands of plugs. Hours spent on production for each method and overall yield of viable seed will be compared between systems. Outreach will be through publications and presentations.
